Fort Dodge Special

The 68 race team made its appearance in Fort Dodge Friday Night. The track was very dry with just one groove. I started 2nd in the heat race and finished 1st. In the feature I started 8th and finished 6th. They were taking the top 8 as qualifiers for the Main Event on Saturday night, so I qualified without having to run any last chance races.

The races were rained out Saturday night and rescheduled for Sunday. Then they were rained out again Sunday. No word yet on if and when they will be running the last night of the Special.

I ended up finishing 3rd when they made up the race.

Algona Season Championship

Tonight was the Season Championship in Algona. I finished 2nd in the heat, but that didn't really matter tonight. Since its the Championship, the feature was lined up by points. I was tied for 3 & 4 so I started on the inside of row 2. It was a great track and my car really ran well. I was leading with 4 laps to go when a lapped car caused a caution. I ended up finishing 2nd for the night. I finished 3rd in points at the track. The regular race season has come to an end. I am taking a couple weeks off and will be racing in Fort Dodge later this month.

Back on the Track

The good news is the car is back together and I was back on the track tonight. I started and finished 4th in the heat race. In the feature it was another typical draw for the 68 race team. I started 11th and finished 6th. The bad news is I am now tied for 3rd place in points. Next Saturday is the last race in Algona so we'll see how the points go. To check full race results go to: www.algonaraceway.com.

I will be running some specials in Mason City on September 9-10 and Fort Dodge on September 23-24.

During...

The parts have been ordered and the frame has been straightened. The frame was pushed over 9 1/2 inches. I'm glad I know someone with a frame machine (thanks dad). I still some work to do to before Saturday, but it WILL be done!

I HOPE!!!

Frame Machine, Here I Come!

What a rough night at Algona . The night started out ok. I finished 4th in the heat race. I started 10th in the feature. And finished 16th. There was a car sideways in the corner that I just couldn't avoid, the damage there wasn't too bad. But then another car came barreling out of the corner and smashed into me. The picture shows the result of that "fender bender"!! If you click on the picture it will enlarge. Hopefully, the car will get put back together for another fun-filled night of racing next weekend.

Saturday, August 13, 2005

Another fun-filled night of racing in Algona. I finished 5th in the heat race. I started 12th in the feature and finished 3rd. I am very happy with the way the car (and driver) did tonight.

Big Britt Blowout

What a long night of racing in Britt tonight. Since the show was rained out last night, we ran it all tonight. I ended up racing 4 races tonight. We started the night with the races that we should have run last night. I finished 2nd in the heat races to make it to the first feature. I pulled off in that qualifying feature. In the last chance heat race I finished 1st. I started the feature in the 7th row outside. It was a "rough and tumble" race. I ended up finishing 11th with alot less work to do on my car than some of the other driver's. All in all, it was a great night of racing.

Wednesday, August 10, 2005

I finished 5th in the heat race so made it to the Main Event without having to run a B main. I started 18th in the Feature and made it up to 9th before having to pull off the track with a flat tire. The top 6 will make up the inside row of the race for $2,000 on Friday. The top 6 from tonights race will make up the outside row. The car was running great! The track was a little rough and the driver's even rougher. There were alot of cars torn up but, thank goodness, mine wasn't one of them. We'll see what tonight brings.

Racing in Britt

The 68 Race Team will be appearing in Britt Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night this week.

BRITT, Iowa -- The “who’s who” of dirt Stock Car racing in the Midwest are gearing up for this week's clash at the Pritchard Family Auto Stores Hancock County Speedway in Britt, Iowa, for the inaugural USRA Stock Car Nationals presented by Unicover, Casey’s General Store and Max Yield. The event is the richest ever staged at the 3/8-mile clay oval, with a whopping $10,000 awaiting the winner of Friday night’s Stock Car finale, while the Hobby Stock winner will take home $2,000. As of Monday, 83 drivers have pre-entered for this event including 60 Stock Car drivers and 23 in the Hobby Stocks. Several more last-minute arrivals are expected to push the number at or near 100 competitors for the Wednesday-Friday, Aug. 10-12 blowout. Qualifying for one of the 24 starting spots in each of Friday’s main events will be a test of wills as the last-place finishers will earn a bigger paycheck than they can normally cash for winning a feature race. Stock Cars will pay $560 to start Friday’s 40-lap feature, while drivers taking the green flag in the 25-lap Hobby Stock finale are guaranteed $200. An open practice for drivers to test and tune their machines is scheduled for Tuesday night, Aug. 9 from 6-9:30 p.m. Pit passes for the practice session will be $15, with free admission for grandstand spectators wishing to watch the pre-race testing. Racing action will get underway on Wednesday night, Aug. 10 with the top six cars in both the Stock Car and Hobby Stock features getting locked into the inside row of Friday night’s main events. On Thursday night, the top six will lock themselves into the outside rows. Friday night will see last chance races to fill the final 12 starting spots. Motel rooms in Forest City and Algona have confirmed some rooms available. However, lodging in nearby Clear Lake and Mason City are nearly sold out. Don't forget, it is also Hobo Days in Britt so there will be a lot of activities going on each day for the whole family. Gates will open at 4 p.m. each night, with hot laps slated at 7 and racing to follow. Grandstand admission will be $12 for adults on Wednesday and Thursday, with Friday night’s finale $15. Kids ages 6-14 are $3 on Wednesday and Thursday, then $5 on Friday. Children ages 5 and under are admitted FREE all three nights. Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks will compete all three nights, with the USRA Modifieds, B-Modifieds and Hornets joining the program on Friday. United States Racing Association (USRA) rules will apply for this event. Entry forms are available for both classes by calling the USRA headquarters at 515-832-7944. It was the fair race at Algona. I started 4th in the heat race and finished 3rd. I started 12th in the feature and finished 8th. The thing to remember on nights like this: The car is in one piece and so am I. That's really all that's important.

Newspaper Article

This is an article that was printed in the Algona Upper Des Moines on August 4, 2005 about the win on July 30th. You should be able to click on the picture to make it a "readable" size. Then a box will appear in the corner of the article. Click on that and it should resize even bigger. Hope this works for everyone.
