Saturday, August 26th

Algona Raceway
Algona, IA

I started 6th in the feature and had a good run going. I was up to third and ended up blowing a right rear tire. Ater that was changed, I started in the back of the pack and made it back up to 10th by the end of the feature.

Algona-August 19th

Saturday, August 19, 2006
Algona Raceway

The curse seems to be lifted....

I started and finished 3rd in the heat race. I started 7th in the feature. I got shuffled to about 12th or 13th after the first few laps. I made my way through the pack and finished 4th.

Friday, August 11th
Britt, IA

I started and finished 5th in the heat race. I started 20th in the feature and finished 5th.

Twenty-six USRA Hobby Stocks were ready to show the fans what they were made of on Friday night at the Britt speedplant. Randy Hadacek was out to a quick lead by with just two laps complete, he was off the pace with a flat tire. That opened the door for the #56h of Brandon Hare. After the first caution of the race, drivers were 3-wide on the front stretch causing some contact. Hare was able to keep himself clean and start the drivers on a single-file restart. Gary Lalor gave cause for the fans to stand as he battled Hare to the finish line. The #56h took the checked as Lalor came in a close second. Josh Hohensee of Pocahontas, Iowa, made a good run in his #68 from his 20th starting position to pick up a fifth place finish.

August 5th-Algona Fair Race

Even more bad luck........

I got 3rd in the heat race. I started 10th in the feature, the car was not running very well. Then I got caught up in a wreck and finished 11th.

The car is now at the motor-builder's. Hopefully he'll figure out what is going on with it.

2 races in one week!

I went to Britt on Tuesday night for Night of 1000 stars. The track was very muddy. I stared 6th in the heat race and finished 5th. I pulled to my trailer and found that the bushing came out of the transmission AGAIN! Instead of taking a chance in the feature, I loaded the car onto the trailer.

On Saturday, I raced in Algona. I started 8th in the heat race and finished 2nd. The track was really good and dry (it would have been great for the feature) but the promoter decided to "super soak" the track leaving it wet and slimy! I started 10th in the feature and finished 8th. The night was still good because the transmission stayed together.

Black Flag!

Saturday, July 15th

It was a very hot and humid night of racing in Algona.

The track was very sloppy during the heat race. I finished 7th in the heat race.

After the heat race, I found the rear bushing and seal had vibrated out of the new transmission that was just put in. With the help of Rod McClurg, Jeff Nielsen, Puffy and Bruce Wickman we put Dave Wickman's tail shaft housing into the car with 5 minutes to spare before the feature.

I started last in the feature. On the corner of the first lap a car came down from the high side into my right front fender. His car was sideways and I had about 3/10ths of a second to make a decision. If I were to hit the breaks and slide into him again I would take the risk of bending the front frame and radiator. Since I already made contact I made the decision to stay on the gas and spin him around. That decision got me a "beautiful black flag"!

So much for 45 minutes of hot, sweaty labor before the feature.

More Bad Luck

While I was getting the car ready to go this weekend, I noticed a tranny leak. Upon moving the transmission, I found that the transmission case was cracked.

So instead of going racing, I took my tranny to Boone. Hope to have it back together for next weekend.

THIS SUCKS!

Algona-June 24th

Algona Raceway
Algona, IA

It turned out to be a beautiful night for racing in Algona Saturday night. There was a rain shower that passed over before the races started. There was still a threat of rain, so they decided not to run any hot laps. The track started out greasy in the heat race. And ended up being dry for the feature. I started 7th in the heat race and finished 6th. I started 11th in the feature and worked my way up to 2nd. By the time I got to 2nd the driver in the 1st position was too far ahead to close the gap. There are some races where you need an extra couple laps and there are races you wish would end a couple laps sooner!

Algona Raceway

I started 6th in the feature, but got shuffled to 9th on the start. The track was super dry. I went to the high side. I got the car to hook-up and headed to the front of the pack. At the end of the race, I lost by about 6 inches. But if I had to lose, I would rather lose to George than anyone else.

Algona

We raced Saturday night in Algona. It was nice to be back and racing with old friends.

I started 8th in the heat race and finished 4th. And nobody ran into me once. The track was like a "sheet of glass" after racing in Fort Dodge.

I started 10th in the feature. This year the track is lining up by points average rather than the draw/redraw system. I barely missed a first corner wreck that resulted in about 3 cars leaving the track. The second restart also resulted a first corner wreck that I barely missed. This one caused a flat tire and I left the track since we decided not to bring any tires down to the "pit area". I ended up finishing 12th but had a ball doing it! That's what racing is supposed to be about....FUN!

Another Rough Night

Friday, May 5th
Mineral City Speedway, Fort Dodge

We had a decent heat race. I started towards the back of the pack and finished second. The track was starting to get a little rough.

By the time the feature started the track was very rough AGAIN! I started in the 4th row and finished 8th.

The whole night was more about coming home with a complete car rather than winning a race.

We will probably not be racing in Fort Dodge for awhile due to lousy track conditions weekly and also the lack of respect by the other drivers.

Sunday, April 23, 2006

Friday, April 21st

Mineral City Speedway, Fort Dodge

I finished 2nd in the heat race and 5th in the feature.

The track was very heavy and wet.

First Race of the Season

We finally got the season underway in Fort Dodge last night. I had a little power problem in the heat race but got that worked out to make an appearance in the feature. I ended up finishing 14th after getting the black flag for smoking .

I am very happy with the car's performance on the first night. There are a few "bugs" to work out but I think this is going to be a great season for the 68 Race Team.

Thanks to all my fans and sponsors who came out to support me. I love seeing you there!
