Algona-June 24th

Algona Raceway
Algona, IA

It turned out to be a beautiful night for racing in Algona Saturday night. There was a rain shower that passed over before the races started. There was still a threat of rain, so they decided not to run any hot laps. The track started out greasy in the heat race. And ended up being dry for the feature. I started 7th in the heat race and finished 6th. I started 11th in the feature and worked my way up to 2nd. By the time I got to 2nd the driver in the 1st position was too far ahead to close the gap. There are some races where you need an extra couple laps and there are races you wish would end a couple laps sooner!

In North American auto racing, particularly with regard to NASCAR, a short track is a racetrack of less than one mile (1.6 km) in length. Short track racing, often associated with fairgrounds and similar venues, is where stock car racing first got off of the back roads and into organized and regulated competition.
